Violet Grace was born in 2008 with a severe mitochondrial myopathy, and Rett Syndrome. In 2017, it was time to be closer to All Children’s and we made the move to St. Petersburg. Fighting two rare diseases, both without a cure meant we needed more tools to help with comfort and hopefully slow progression. Kids can push you to do things you never thought you would do. For me it was the decision to become a massage therapist. July, 2020 I started the massage therapy program at Cortiva.

In January 2021, her palliative team felt it was time to introduce us to the Pediatric Hospice team. April 2021, Violet revealed how strong she is and graduated from Hospice care. Her condition is stable and her tenacity through this journey has proved what a rock star she truly is! Walking your child through suffering is indescribable.

One day her hospice nurse shared with me her desire to see these kiddos pampered with a spa-like experience. Most of the touch these kiddos experience is care driven and not pleasant (changing tubes, iv’s, suctioning…) They need a place where they can relax.... “Grace For Today Getaway”…

We want these families to walk away knowing they are loved, and encouraged. To feel even the slightest bit more rested, and take home the sweetest memories to carry them through the hardest days ahead.
